What is a daily progress report?

A daily progress report (DPR) - also called a site diary or daily site report - is the record of what happened on a construction site each day: who worked, what got done, what held work up and what's planned next.

It's how a project manager or owner who isn't on site knows how the day went. And over months it becomes the project's history - the record you go back to when a client questions a delay, a contractor disputes a bill, or you need to back up a time-extension claim.

DPR format for construction: what to include

A good daily progress report answers the same questions every day, in the same order. This is the format Raidzo uses - you can also use it on paper or in a spreadsheet.

SectionWhat to recordExample
Date and weatherThe report date and the weather on site7 Oct 2026 · Sunny, 32°C
Summary of the dayTwo or three lines on how the day wentSlab shuttering on 3rd floor completed; rebar started
ManpowerEach agency or contractor, their trade and head countSharma Constructions · Masons · 12
Work doneWhat got done, where, and how much if measuredBrickwork, 2nd floor east wing - 18 m²
Hindrances / delaysAnything that held work up, its cause and hours lostCement delivery late - 3 hours lost
SafetyIncidents, near misses, toolbox talksToolbox talk on working at height
Plan for tomorrowWhat the site will work on nextRebar 3rd floor slab; plastering 1st floor
Site photosPhotos of the day's workSlab shuttering, brickwork progress

The section people skip - and later regret - is hindrances. Writing down each delay the day it happens, with its cause and the hours lost, is what turns "the site was slow" into evidence.

Why move your DPR off paper, Excel and WhatsApp messages

The owner and project managers get a one-line summary when a report is submitted - workers on site, items done, hindrances and hours lost.

PDF and WhatsApp in one tap

Share a submitted report as a PDF with photos, or send it straight to WhatsApp for the client or head office.

A hindrance register built for you

Every delay from every report, collected in one place by cause and hours lost - ready when you need to back up a claim.

See which days are missing
